“I always like to ratchet the engineering of my buildings up a notch. I do this as a general practice with all my construction, but it is even more satisfying with a steel building. Where a typical snow load on the coast is somewhere in the high 40’s, I generally like to see a 60 pound snow load. Where the wind load is usually around 90mph, I bump it up to 100.
